Invisalign® is a minimally invasive orthodontic treatment method that utilizes clear aligner trays to gradually align the teeth and bite. These aligner trays are customized for the patient so that they fit seamlessly over the teeth and apply just enough pressure to encourage a specific type of movement. As the treatment progresses, different aligner trays will be used to obtain the desired results. Unlike other orthodontic appliances, however, Invisalign® trays are discreet, removable, and comfortable. This allows patients to improve the look and function of their smiles without having to interrupt their lifestyle.

Did You Know?

Invisalign® works well for both teens and adults who need orthodontic treatment. Oftentimes, adults assume they are too old for orthodontic treatment, however Invisalign® allows people of all ages to discreetly align their teeth and bite.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I a candidate for Invisalign® orthodontic treatment?

You may be a candidate for Invisalign® orthodontic treatment if you have crooked and/or overcrowded teeth, as well as teeth with gaps in between them. You may also be a candidate for Invisalign® orthodontic treatment if you have malocclusion such as an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite. To determine if you are an ideal candidate for Invisalign® orthodontic treatment, schedule a consultation with Dr. Guirguis today.

What can I expect when undergoing Invisalign® orthodontic treatment?

When undergoing Invisalign® orthodontic treatment, the first step is to have your mouth scanned with an oral scanner. This information will then be used to predict your treatment results, propose a treatment plan, and to fabricate your aligners. Once you receive your aligners, you will be instructed to wear them for at least 22 hours a day. Ideally, you should only remove your aligners when eating, drinking anything besides water, brushing, or flossing. You can expect to visit Dr. Guirguis about once every 4-6 weeks so he can monitor your progress and provide you with new aligners. You can generally expect to switch out your aligners every 1-2 weeks, depending on Dr. Guirguis’ instructions. On average, you can expect Invisalign® orthodontic treatment to last about 12-18 months, however this can vary depending on your individual case.

Will I need to follow any special instructions after undergoing Invisalign® orthodontic treatment?

After undergoing Invisalign® orthodontic treatment, you will need to wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting back into their original position. At first you will need to wear this retainer full time, but you will eventually only need to wear it at night. Invisalign® offers a discreet clear retainer known as the Vivera® retainer.
